The Loughborough Grammar School Royal Navy CCF sailing team returned from Southport with a string of impressive results following a challenging weekend of national competition.
On Saturday 28th June, the team took part in the gruelling National Junior 12-Hour Sailing Race – a non-stop endurance event running from 8am to 8pm. With just four cadets on board, rather than the usual five or six, the LGS team had to dig deep to keep pace with the competition. A flurry of pit stop-style crew changes kept the momentum going throughout the day, and their determination paid off with a 2nd place finish in the Argo class, as well as 1st place finishes in the Ladies’ 2-lap categories after 12pm and 4pm.
The following day, Sunday 29th June, the cadets competed in the National Cadet Regatta Round the Island Race – another demanding event – where they were once again victorious, claiming 1st place overall.
A huge well done to the LGS RN sailing team for their resilience and success, and sincere thanks to the staff who supported them throughout the weekend.
