Our Senior Sports Dinner was a fantastic celebration of sport at LHS. Team Captains and Heads of Sport had the opportunity to reflect on the year and present both full and half colours to those students who have demonstrated a sense of sportsmanship and reliability, as well as become positive role models for their younger peers.
We also announced the winner of the Sports Personality of the Year Award – an award given to someone who has achieved significant sporting success, balanced the demands of their sport with schoolwork and commitments and gone above and beyond. To read more, find the full article in our stories.
We`re celebrating a fantastic sporting achievement this week after our U15 team was crowned Leicestershire Indoor County Cricket champions following an impressive run at the county finals. Following this latest triumph, the team will now go on to represent the county at the regional finals, which are set to take place at the Edgbaston Indoor Cricket Centre. Congratulations girls!

For British Science Week, LHS Junior Science have been looking at `What`s it Like to Live & Work in the Antarctic?`, `What Should we Trust Machines to do for Us?` and `How is Information Stored on Magnetic Material?`
During their practicals, the pupils used plastic (non-magnetic) discs and magnetic metal discs to develop a binary code to `spell` out letters, words and sentences. They then covered their code with paper, swapped with a friend and ran a magnet over the surface to `read` the hidden message that the binary code said!🧬🔬
We highly recommend our Taster Day as a wonderful way for your daughter to experience life at Loughborough High School. She will meet some of our staff and pupils, explore our facilities, and take part in a variety of enjoyable activities throughout the day. The taster is also a lovely opportunity to meet and make friends with other girls who are considering LHS as their next school. Our annual Spring Concert returned to the De Montfort Hall stage this weekend, with over 250 pupils taking part in the gala concert. Featuring a myriad of musicians, performing in a wide variety of styles and in many combinations of different ensembles and groups, it was an incredible display of our pupils’ musical talent.
Year 7 choirs from both @lborogrammar and @lborohigh performed music from the hit film, based on the songs of Abba; Mamma Mia! And we also witnessed fantastic solo performances from nine of our Year 13 Music Scholars, including piano, voice, oboe, violin and cello.
To celebrate #InternationalPiDay, the Maths Department spent Friday celebrating! We received lots of fantastic entries for the Year 7 Pi-themed Bake Off and then Year 8 have been competing for stickers and prizes as they race to crack the toughest problems in their teams.
Today we had a brilliant team (including a karate black belt Sensei!) come in and give a self-defence workshop to our pupils. Workshops like these empower girls by giving them the tools to defend themselves; the session taught the girls the power of their own strength, and how to remain level headed in conflict.
Arrange a Taster Day! 📚We offer a range of Taster Days for girls in Year 5 who are interested in attending our wonderful school, additionally, we offer Taster Days for Year 10 girls who are interested in Sixth Form which occur throughout the year. We had the wonderful people from Zeitgest come and visit us to do a workshop all about WW1 – from the uniforms the soldiers wore, to the realities of life in the trenches to the types of artillery used in battle, our girls gained some incredible insights that are sure to help them with their exam revision. With lots of audience participation, they really immersed themselves in the workshop and enjoyed the hands-on approach to learning.
A group of Year 9 pupils had a great time at Science Explorers Day at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory last week! They tested insulating materials in a hands-on workshop, connected live with scientists at the Boulby Underground Laboratory, and toured world-class facilities. An inspiring day of real-world science in action!🧬🔬

Huge congratulations to all who performed in the Spotlight on Strings and Orchestras concert last week. There were around 160 players, nine double basses, seven harps, four orchestras and five ensembles! We had 6-year-olds all the way through to parents playing, with almost all performers having started bowed strings in the Year 2 scheme. Well done everyone!
