The first half-term of 2025, and the beginning of our 175th Year, has been full of our achievements, engaging activities and opportunity for our pupils.
A Bright Start to the Day at our Charity Breakfasts
Each year group at LHS takes part in a charity breakfast every academic year to raise money for a chosen charity. The first one this year was organised by Year 9 in support of the RSPCA and was the perfect way to start a Friday morning. Pupils chose from a range of hot food and pastries, served by charity reps from each for, to enjoy together in the dining hall.
We Welcomed Guest Speaker, Baroness Morgan of Coates
As part of our 175th Anniversary celebrations, we were delighted to welcome our first guest speaker of the year to LHS. Baroness Morgan of Coates shared insights from her life and offered our pupils a glimpse into what it’s like to be a woman in politics. From studying Law at St Hugh’s College to becoming the first woman to chair the Treasury Select Committee, Baroness Morgan emphasised the importance of embracing new opportunities and stepping outside the comfort zone.
Loughborough Schools Foundation Debate Club
Hosted in our Lecture Hall, our Senior Debating Society is open to all Loughborough Schools Foundation students and is a place where pupils can gain valuable experience in public speaking, as well as the opportunity to debate a wide range of interesting and engaging topics. One of our most recent sessions asked pupils to respond to the statement ‘This House Believes That Loughborough is the Pinnacle of Western Civilisation’. After hearing convincing arguments from both sides, the audience vote meant that it was the proposition who emerged triumphant!
Perse Coding Challenge
Congratulations to some of Year 11 students who took on the Perse Coding Challenge, a hardcore programming competition designed to push their problem-solving skills to the limit! An incredible achievement, four of our students made it through to round two!
