Half-Term Highlights: December 2024

Events at Loughborough High School this half-term have focused in on the Arts as we’ve celebrated everything from drama to poetry and music to Tableaux. Keep reading to find out more.

Arts Night

In November, we held an extremely successful Arts Night, open to friends and family of our pupils. Our talented artists showcased their work, which included showstopping drama performances and immersive theatre, poetry readings, paintings and musical highlights, it was an event all pupils involved should be proud of!

Continuing the Tableaux Tradition

The High School’s 99th Tableaux performance took place this December as we inch closer to celebrating a remarkable 100-year milestone. A much-loved tradition amongst pupils, staff members, parents and alumni, our Year 13 students worked extremely hard to create a truly outstanding performance.

Through artful staging, lighting, make-up and costume, Year 13 students, supported by Year 12 pupils as ‘scene shifters’, freeze in carefully composed groups to recreate traditional scenes. Careful thought and planning go into perfecting the likeness of each traditional figure and, when paired with lighting effects and a stunning musical soundscape, culminates in an unforgettable performance.

Celebrating Success

We drew the term to a close by celebrating the success of our Year 12 students during their time in Sixth Form so far. Our students’ family and friends were invited to see them receive their GCSE certificates and join in the celebrations!
