LUNTA Partnership

Loughborough High School is proud to deliver a first-class education to some of the country’s most promising junior tennis players, through its prestigious partnership with Loughborough University National Tennis Academy (LUNTA).

Since 2019, the Loughborough Schools Foundation, a foundation of schools comprising Fairfield Prep School, Loughborough High School and Loughborough Grammar School, has provided academic support to athletes selected for LUNTA.

The LUNTA programme, is just one of two of its kind in the UK, the other being at the University of Stirling, which aims to nurture tennis skills and talent in 14 to 18-year-olds who demonstrate the greatest potential in the sport.

In Loughborough, student-athletes benefit from world-class tennis coaching and a comprehensive support system encompassing performance science, medicine, and wellbeing, all delivered by expert staff at the Loughborough University National Tennis Academy.

In parallel, they receive an outstanding mainstream education, along with boarding and pastoral care, at Loughborough High School, the oldest academic girls’ school in the UK. The School’s recently refurbished boarding facilities are conveniently located near the campus, enabling academy members to study, train, rest and thrive, all within a supportive and closely connected environment.

The programme has already seen notable success, with pupils achieving major titles including the Junior Australian Open and Junior Wimbledon, a testament to the strength of this unique academic and sporting partnership.
