The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE)

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) Scheme develops valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership and resilience through challenging and rewarding activities. It also enhances our pupils’ confidence and employability by encouraging their personal growth and community involvement.

A high quality DofE programme is offered to all pupils in Year 9 and above and there is a strong uptake. This provides the opportunity to progress through all levels of the award and to develop new skills along the way. Each level of the award has four sections to complete: Volunteering, Skill, Physical and Expedition.

Volunteering

In 2025, Loughborough High School pupils working towards their DofE awards spent 2821 hours volunteering; a social value of £18053. These included volunteering in local primary schools and at local community groups.

Expeditions

Expeditions are run to various areas throughout the UK including the local area, the Peak District, Lake District and Wales, including Mount Snowdon!

“Involvement in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme faces pupils with physical challenges and helps them further develop self-confidence and resilience.”
